The mobile subscriber base of six telecom operators, including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, jointly increased by 2.27 million in February to reach 817.42 million, according to industry data.

Hyperlocal delivery service Grofers announced on Friday that it will enable doorstep deliveries of Reliance Jio’s 4G smartphone range, which can be ordered through its apps.

Reliance Retail had recently announced the prices of its three Lyf-branded smartphones – the Lyf Earth 1, Lyf Water 1 and Lyf Water 2 – ranging from Rs. 14,690 to Rs. 23,990.

The Lyf Water 2 priced at Rs. 14,690, is the company’s entry-level 4G offering, sports a 5-inch 720×1280 pixels screen resolution screen, 16 GB of internal storage, a 2400mAh battery. The phone is fitted with a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Lyf Water 1, priced at Rs. 14,999 has a sharper 5-inch (1080×1920 pixel resolution) display, and a 2600mAh battery. Both smartphones are dual-SIM, and support 4G LTE bands and connectivity options like GPRS/ EDGE, GPS, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB and memory expansion slots that accept 32GB card capacities. The Lyf Water 1 runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. The Lyf Water 2, on the other hand, runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

The Lyf Earth 1, priced at Rs. 23,990, has a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Amoled display, has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, with headroom for an additional 32GB of storage, via microSD card. The Earth 1 smartphone sports dual rear cameras, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

Grofers will provide doorstep delivery in 13 cities from a base of 150 stores in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune. The feature went live on its apps for iOS and Android at 3:30pm IST on Friday.

Reliance Jio’s much-anticipated Lyf series of smartphones will come with the company’s SIMs and will be bundled with offers, according to a recent report that also tips the launch date.

The company is likely to launch its Lyf smartphones in the first week of February in at least 13 cities, the report claims. Reliance Jio is said to offer company’s SIM cards and up to 50GB of free bundled 4G data. The Reliance Jio SIM cards are also likely to offer up to 5,000 minutes of free bundled talk time on Reliance Jio network, and up to 5,000 free SMS messages.

RTN.Asia on Monday reported citing sources in retail that the phones will go on sale in cities such as Bengaluru, Baroda, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, and Pune.

The report adds that Reliance has built up stocks of its Lyf branded phones in order to meet the demand at launch. It also claims that the Reliance Jio’s Lyf branded phones, said to be called the Lyf Earth 1, Earth 2, Earth 3, and Earth 4, may be priced in the starting range of Rs. 9,999-22,000.

The report adds that the company is also working on a cheaper series of smartphones that will be based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 chipset, and not the Snapdragon 615 that will be featured on the other Lyf Earth phones. These phones will be priced around the Rs. 5,000 mark. The report adds it is uncertain if all the bundled offers will be applicable to all the models, or the period of validity of these offers.

Reliance has so far not revealed launch plans for the Lyf smartphones, or even exactly when the company’s 4G network will be rolled out to the public. Earlier this month, Reliance Jio announceddetails about its first smartphone dubbed Lyf Earth 1 running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

To refresh, the dual-SIM (Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM) Lyf Earth 1 sports a 5.5-inch Amoled display with a full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution, translating to a pixel density of 401ppi. The smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC, coupled with Adreno 405 GPU. Other specifications include dual rear cameras – with one 13-megapixel sensor and one 2-megapixel sensor; also sports a 5-megapixel front-facing camera; 32GB of inbuilt storage; expandable storage support via microSD card (up to 64GB), and 3500mAh battery.
